This might be a little awful, well more than awful but since we just celebrated a 4th birthday in the house I thought it would be fitting to share……. last years birthday that I never got around to posting.. yikes! So much has changed in him in just a year it’s incredible, like that head of hair that we now trim regularly. But some things are still the same like his big bright eyed smile and undying love for pizza and legos. We spent a casual birthday last week at home opening gifts in the morning, having a delicious pizza dinner and diving into a requested fruit cake “a.k.a cheesecake” instead of traditional birthday cake. The week before we went out for some BBQ at The Salt lick and it was delish!
Typically each year for each kid, I like to do a full session with them. It gives us time to hang out and get creative together. We planned a theme around what he wanted which was a rocket ship and incorporated a few other things like those awesome planets that he “helped” paint ;). We took these on an open field near my previous home in Jacksonville, Florida. I was a little bummed that I couldn’t get the weather to cooperate so we just went with the day as it was, but I like that it lends a mood that’s more raw and moody and less like my sun infused sessions. My hopes were that this year I would be able to shoot a few weeks before his birthday but because we were in the middle of moving and getting settled into the new place I haven’t gotten around to thinking up some good ideas with him. Although, I now know a good place to get started is with a cardboard box.
He was pretty surprised to see that I’m not too shabby at building space ships….
Our available light kept moving in and out so we took cover in the craft for a little while… oh! And he loves his Crocs too…
Our planets that we painted together.
This is probably my favorite set of the series
