How did your company decide their name? The company went with Nerium International because the biotech company (Nerium Biotechnology) that discovered the patented ingredient NAE8 is partly derived from the Nerium oleander plant.
How long has your business been around? Nerium International is a four year old company. I have been a Brand Partner with Nerium International a little over a year.
Tell us more about your product/business and how they developed the concept behind it: Nerium International’s products are based off of science and clinical trials We have four products to date:
- NeriumAD age-defying night cream- reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, uneven skin texture, enlarged pores, aging skin and sun damaged skin.
- NeriumAD age-defying day cream—reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, uneven skin texture, enlarged pores, aging skin and sun damaged skin.
- Nerium Frim body contouring cream- tightens, tones, smoothes and firms the skin.
- EHT brain health supplement- Created in labs at Princeton University and twenty years of medical research has been done before bringing EHT to the market. EHT reduces inflammation, increases energy, focus and mental alertness.
Nerium International’s mission is to make people better. We do this by helping our customers receive exceptional customer service and bring quality, science based products to market. We have also positively impacted so many lives through our business opportunity.
What makes your business so unique? Our culture within the company is amazing! There is a huge sense of community and everyone helping and supporting each other. We also know how to have fun! Now, our products are also unique because we hold the patent on NAE-8. NAE-8 is the antioxidant in our skin care products and we are partnered with Signum Biosciences and Princeton University who hold the patent for EHT and we have exclusivity to sell EHT. You will not find these products anywhere else!
Do you have a storefront? Do you work from home? I work from wherever! The great thing about being a Brand Partner with Nerium International is you carry no inventory! Everything is done online so I work from home, the corner coffee shop. I’ve even worked while waiting in line at the grocery store.
How do you balance it all? This is a great question. I think we all seek perfect balance but I don’t think it is really achievable so I prioritize. I have a planner with a schedule and my priorities are 1. Faith 2. Fitness 3. Family 4. Business. I schedule time for all of these. Yes, even play time with my kids. I find then when I block off time in my planner for my family I won’t spend that time working, cleaning the house or something else that will distract me from one on one time with my family.
What is one piece of advice you can give to any mom starting their business? Write down the reason you are starting your own business and read it daily! It will keep you going on the days when it feels impossible or exhausting.
What is the best aspect about having your own business? TIME FREEDOM. I have totally control of when, where and how I work my business.
What is the part you struggle with the most in your business? Giving myself time reflection and analysis of my business. I am always busy on the activities of the business but struggle with remembering and allowing the time to reflect on the day, week or month and answer questions like “Did this activity yield the results you want?” or “I’ve been doing this activity for a month, how can I do this better?” I find myself asking these questions too late and not shifting gears quick enough. This is something I’m learning to do but still struggle with.
What did you wish you knew before starting a business? How important personal development is. Before starting my business I never read books or articles about personal development and I feel like I was at a disadvantage to those who understood it’s importance and have been doing in for a while. As a business owner I’m met with rejection, ridicule and obstacles and learning how to recover quickly and move on is critical.
Do you have a future or long terms goals with your business? I love helping people and I find ways to do just that. I like providing amazing products to the market place that help people feel and look better. I love helping people who use Nerium’s business opportunity as the vehicle that helps them reach their financial goals. I enjoy volunteering at my church nursery on Sunday’s and with Mobile Loaves and Fishes. So my goals are to have the resources and have time freedom to do what I love best which is help people.

What do you love to do when you’re not being supermom? I love working out! I am a 5am work out gal. It has to be the first thing I do or it doesn’t get done. I love reading. Reading a few books right now. Money Master the Game by Tony Robbins and Keep It Shut by Karen Ehman. I am a SNL lover so I nap on Saturday’s just so I can stay up to watch it! Lame, I know!
What is your favorite household product? Green Works disinfectant spray. I can use it on all surfaces, which rocks!
What wardrobe staple can you not live without? Wedges. I love wedges. Flip flop wedges, sandal wedges, boot wedges. I got it all! They work well because I can chase my kids in them. I can’t do that in heels.
What was your first job? Shoe department in Kmart when I was 16. Maybe that’s where my wedge shoe obsession started. Ha!
What celebrity would you love to have dinner with? Oprah Winfrey
What was the last book you read? Entrepreneur Roller Coaster by Darren Hardy
