Over the last 8 years or so that I have been operating Marie Holmes Photography, I finally felt like it was time to not only take my business to the next level but have also felt compelled to do something truly different. As an entrepreneur, sometimes you are so wrapped up in the work that it’s easy to let the bigger picture become covered in a fog. But when it’s time to make that next move, it’s a feeling that subcombs you and just like that the fog lifts and you are full speed ahead. That is what it has felt like for me in that last few months. It started with a dream- the kind you have when you’re fast asleep and wake up to tell your significant other all about it at 3am in the morning, to then seeing it actually come to life right before your very own eyes 5 years later.
When I tell you that God’s plan is so grand, so courageous, so intentionally for you I mean every single word. Now, I don’t know yet where this plan will take me but I have put trust in knowing that this is what I am supposed to be doing now and if there is one thing I have gotten to understand through my relationship with God, it is that the greatest gift you can give back to him is to simply just focus on the present. Friends, there is so so much more to this story so I hope you will follow along with me on this incredible journey.
Today is the day I share with all of you our next exciting adventure!!! We have decided to open North Austin’s very *first* shared creative workspace + photograpy studio. And when I say “we” my husband Carlos has decided to join me on my crazy little idea. If there is anyone in the world that has believed in me wholeheartedly it has been this man. He’s the one that looks me right in my hurt eyes and says “don’t give up, stay focused”.
About the Space
It will be modeled as an alternative to the traditional co-working environment and is perfect for those who desire a more intimate setting and professional presence to conduct business and work with their clients and customers. Designed with a photographer in mind featuring over 800 sq ft of natural light shooting space (which will also be a great blank space for educators to host classes and workshops in) but will also feature lounge areas and rooms for private and personal meetings. Members of this new and exciting community will also have the opportunity to come together under one roof to cultivate relationships with fellow creatives, artisans and independent entrepreneurs through our pop-up coworking days and social events. We have a running list going of all the exciting amenities we will be including in the space and already have some value added classes and workshops in the works to inspire and grown businesses to new heights!
What I love most about this new venture is that we get to bring a piece of Austin proper for us northies in the burbs! No having to fight traffic or find parking downtown (and even then those who are downtown and want an escape- I’ve timed our new location from the convention center it and it’s only 17 minutes!!). We desperately needed something just for us and I am so excited to bring this concept to our growing community in the Pflugerville, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander and Georgetown vicinity. While we have quite a road ahead and are expecting a completion date of around Winter 17/18, in the meantime, we are working on the brand development phase which will put a face to the name of our space and help give everyone more of an idea of our vision and our purpose. We’ll also be starting a blog and site soon to keep everyone up to date on the progress. So make sure if you have not liked Marie Holmes Photography already on Instagram and Facebook you go and check us out because when our branding phase is completed that is where you will want to be to accompany us on this amazing ride. Now pictured above is our very first photo we took while the space is awaiting the foundation. I know it’s a picture of nothing ha! But I think it will be pretty neat to see it all from the ground up.
