Oh Telluride how you have stolen our hearts! We were due for trip to somewhere we have never been and Telluride did not disappoint! I didn’t take nearly enough photos but I attribute that to being accidentally more present than I imagined I would be with a family of 5 on the go during vacation. I just could not get my eyes off of the 360 views of the mountains. We spent a full day taking ski classes- *pictures not shown here because obviously too hard to lug around a professional camera on the slopes, while simultaneously learning how to ski! But we then spent a few more days exploring the beautiful mountain town, snug by the fire, shopping the boutiques, outdoor snow activities and eating the most delicious meals. Not a chain store in sight within what seemed like a mere 2 mile sq radius, everything was homegrown and original. Traveling in the towns public transportation through the free gondola was a fun experience (we heard even children travel this way to get to school!). Every 13 minute ride suspended above the town below and the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, we got to meet and talk to a new person or family! There really is just something about being on the mountain that disconnects you from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world and that is one of the many reasons we loved it so much. I really can go on and on… it’s just one of those places you can’t believe exists in the US and get jealous thinking about the people who actually get to live there every day (minus the snowstorms). You better believe we are already planning the next trip!

Last, I wanted to share few images I captured on film using a variety of film stocks specifically Portra 400 and Fuji 400H. I wanted to test some out and see the different results in the same location and it was so much fun getting the scans back. Some of these images truly resemble a painting to me and I’m not trying to toot my horn because honestly I have no idea how it happened that way, but it has been very clear to me that film has a way of breathing life into an image giving it a heart beat while highlighting all of the perfect imperfections. The image captured often needs no further manipulation where it is otherwise a necessity on digital stills. When I receives scans back The beauty in it is that I am able to sit back and intentionally observe the image. There is also a mystery to film that I adore. I took images on this trip that I had forgotten all about. It wasn’t until I got my scans back that those little surprises filled my heart in such a fulfilling way.
