Evening Rituals

April 18, 2013

This year I have literally been bouncing back and forth from project to project hoping one will eventually stick! These types of things are great to do because they really push your creativity, so I finally found one that I think will work… and that is the This is our life project over on Paint the Moon by the lovely and incredibly talented Annie. This is a great start for me because it isn’t daily, it’s a 52 week project that allows me to really concentrate on creating more “real” documentary style images at home or within my lifestyle. Last weeks theme was “Evening Rituals” which resonates with me so deeply. If I could have a sub title.. it would literally be called, The Two hour Task  because brushing my daughters hair after a wash is an event. If I don’t untangle and braid her hair every night, it will be viciously knotty in the morning yet taking another 15 minutes to brush it all out before heading off to school. Oh my goodness lets not even talk about pool days in the summer! So now that she is 8 years old I am trying to start showing her how to take care of all these curly locks.Twice per week  I leave for my client ordering appointments in the evening and letting her dad have a go is just not ideal (although he gets major kudos for trying !) So here she is in all her little curly girl haired glory doing her thang!  Bless her little soul though, she is like the tiniest little doll that has a head full of beautiful curls. She loves it, and honestly I dread the day that I we will no longer have this special ritual.
