These are the types of sessions that I love collaborating on with parents. The simple, imaginative styled shoots that highlight a child’s personality. While not over the top and too trendy, sessions just like this I feel, tend to hold a sense of nostalgia as the years progress. After reading through mom’s questionnaire I instantly knew what need to happen to put this little boy (and we will call him Tuck the Great) in his element. Held over by the river, in Memorial Park one of my favorite open greenscapes to shoot at created the perfect setting for running free in imaginative play. Quite the surprise added by mother nature was rain, which didn’t stop us one bit. We ran with it not entirely knowing how much of a perk it was going to be once the images had been finished. All we knew was to expect a bit of a lighting change from my usual work and some things were just going to be and look wet. We couldn’t ask for a more perfect and fitting overall ambiance. As I slowly.. very…. very slowly, transition my way into being a North Austin, TX child photographer I just can’t wait to be able to explore and find some of the very types of special places that I loved in Jacksonville, Florida. There is an adventure to be had out here even for me, Tuck the Great has shown us that it is possible with a little imagination…. I have to give a big kudos to mom for being such a sport and gathering some of the elements including the adorable wooden sword. The book, and oldie but good that I love…. I keep several copies on hand for gifts because it is just the best book for boys of all ages.
